Now you can, thanks to Fraxel Dual laser treatments

Fraxel treatments are quickly becoming some of the most popular options in med spa clinics around the country - for a good reason.

In this blog, we’ll take a closer look at the magic of Fraxel treatments and explain why they're such a good option for so many people.

Let’s dive in.

How Fraxel Dual Treatments Work

The Fraxel device is an innovative method for removing damaged, aged skin layers and revealing fresh, healthy skin underneath.

Here’s how it works:

Fraxel lasers create tiny columns of damage within the skin’s deepest layers without significantly damaging the skin’s surface.

These areas of damage stimulate the body’s wound healing mechanisms, spearheading collagen production and promoting the generation of healthy skin from the inside out.

Since these lasers leave some tissue intact, they create a gridwork of treated skin alongside untreated skin. This promotes rapid healing and regeneration without compromising the quality of the results.

Is This Treatment Ablative or Non-Ablative?

There are two types of resurfacing lasers, ablative and non-ablative lasers. Fraxel Dual is a non-ablative laser that can be combined with other med spa treatments to deliver maximum results.

Here’s a breakdown of the two different types of laser treatments:

Ablative

Ablative lasers are colloquially known as “wounding” laser treatments, since they work by removing the skin’s outer layer and heating the tissue beneath it to kickstart collagen production.

After treatment with an ablative laser, the skin will peel and flake. In about a week, though, it’ll start to look tighter, fresher, and smoother. These lasers can take years off of a person’s face and dramatically reduce the signs of aging.

Non-Ablative

Non-ablative lasers are known by dermatologists as “non-wounding” lasers. Instead of removing the top layer of skin, non-ablative lasers only heat the tissue beneath it to stimulate collagen production and cell turnover.

With time and a few sessions, these treatments reduce redness, acne scarring, and pigmentation while improving the skin’s texture and reducing the appearance of fine lines.

What Problems Do Lasers Treat?

While laser treatments are effective for various skin issues, they’re particularly well-suited for acne scarring, pigmentation, wrinkling, fine lines, dullness, and sun spots.

These lasers can also reduce stretch marks, heal surgical and burn scars, and balance uneven skin tone.

Lasers work well for these skin conditions because they penetrate deep into the skin’s surface, breaking up scar tissue and resolving hyperpigmentation at the source. Creams and topical treatments just can’t do that.

Why Choose Fraxel Treatments?

Fraxel treatments improve the skin's texture, tone, and radiance, without painful procedures or lots of downtime. Here are a few of the reasons our clients keep choosing this treatment option:

  • The treatments are non-invasive. No surgery, no needles, and no painful downtime.

  • Treatments work fast. You’ll see results from your first laser treatment after just one session.

  • Outstanding results. Whether you want to look younger or improve your skin’s tone and texture, you’ll be shocked by how fresh and radiant these treatments leave your skin looking.

  • Effective for a variety of skin concerns. These lasers target everything from fine lines and wrinkles to surface scarring, sun damage, and pigmentation on the face, chest, neck, hands, and more.

Do the Treatments Hurt?

Without anesthetic, laser treatments feel like tiny prickling sensations throughout the treated area. To prevent any discomfort you may feel, though, your dermatologist will use a topical anesthetic cream to the skin’s surface.

Preparing for Treatment

Correctly preparing for laser treatment is one of the best ways to ensure excellent results. Here are a few tips we recommend for our clients:

  • Stop using or applying all acne treatments (especially topical retinoids and products containing Retin-A or derivatives) at least three weeks before your first laser treatment.

  • Postpone your treatment if you have significant breakouts, infections, or open sores in the treatment area.

  • Abstain from alcohol and caffeine on the day of treatment.

  • Avoid sun exposure before and after treatment.

Once you’re in the chair at your med spa, you can expect the treatment to take about 20 minutes to two hours.

You’ll see the most significant results after about three treatments, and you can expect the results from your treatments to last about a year. It’s worth mentioning that results tend to last longer in people with dark hair and skin tones than in people with lighter complexions.

What Happens After a Fraxel Treatment?

After a laser treatment session, the skin’s healing mechanisms kick into overdrive to promote cell regeneration and collagen production.

Since laser treatments are noninvasive, the downtime is minimal, but you’ll likely notice peeling, scaling, and redness for 3-5 days after each treatment.

Your dermatologist will recommend gentle cleansers and moisturizers to help you care for your skin.
